Diabetic Macular Oedema (DMO) typically affects people who have had diabetes for a number of years and have had trouble controlling their blood sugar levels.
In its later stages, DMO can affect your sight. Typical symptoms include your central vision becoming blurred, straight lines appearing wavy, blind spots, and changes in the colour, shape or size of familiar objects.
DMO occurs due to physical changes in the back of your eye caused by blood vessels being damaged by the effects of diabetes.
There are a number of medical treatments that can help improve your DMO, as well as various lifestyle changes you can make to improve your overall health.
Use these resources to understand your condition, take action and have better conversations with your doctor.
